Time for the newest edition of “Gainz Of The Week” – the premier spot for the best information to improve your fitness levels – and your life.
This week, I learned a very valuable lesson:
Never grip the barbell mid-palm when deadlifting.
Or else this happens:
Your deadlift grip should be at the base of your fingers, right where they meet the palm. Not “deep” in the palm.
After a few salt baths and some strategic skin-cutting, I’m recovering well.
I did, however, complete my workout. A little dangling skin never stopped anyone. Amirite?
If you feel badly for me, I accept gifts.
Reading Gainz By Jason
This week’s article was shared hundreds of times on social media – as it struck a chord with many.
It even was picked up and featured by Men’s Health! LINK ===> [HERE]
We all idolize the touched up, glossy, fancy “fitness pictures” we see on the internet.
Have you ever stopped to think about what it takes to create a “photoshoot-ready body”?
I exposed a dirty, little truth: Even a “photo-shoot ready body” is only maintainable for a brief moment in time.
The people in those photoshoots don’t REALLY look like they do in the pictures you see.

Client Gainz Of The Week
This week we highlight client Carla.
Carla has been with us for a good amount of time.
Here is a snapshot of her progress tracker and the data she has accumulated over the last 12 weeks:
At first glance, this data doesn’t look all too tremendous to the average eye.
To a Coach, this is exactly what you want to see.
There is exactly nothing earth-shattering or mind-bending about this progress. At the same time, it’s incredibly impressive to see. Carla has steadily lost inches and very slowly lost weight as well.
She has kept her cool, remained focused, focused on her daily habits, and she has reaped the benefits.
We often give “big props” to those insane before and after pictures.
We need to be sure to give “big props” to those who do the damn thing at their own pace. Slowly, steadily, and methodically.
Carla sent us an email expressing her excitement over how far she’d come.
I am very happy with my progress this week!
I was very encouraged by your email response last week and your fantastic articles.
As we head into the last week, I am very grateful and satisfied with all the progress I’ve made.
I have been steadily and purposefully losing weight for exactly one year now. A grand total of 25 pounds, and 5 inches of fat around my navel have been successfully shed! 🙂
Slowly and steadily.
Hats off to you, Carla! A job well done, for sure.
Thought Gainz Of The Week
This week’s Thought Gainz come from a current client, Jim, who had reached the infamous “middle” of his plan – the 6 week mark – and he was losing steam a bit.
Jason, are you sure we shouldn’t mix things up a bit? I’ve been doing the same workout for 6 weeks, and it’s getting a bit monotonous.
I thought the weight would come off a bit quicker as well. Do you think we should try something new to mix it up? Tinker with the macros a bit? Maybe we could speed up progress if we had a different approach.
Let me know what you think.
A fantastic question that many people have, and here’s my reply:
