Let me welcome everybody to the wild, wild west,
To a gym that’s untouchable like Elliot Ness,
The pump hits your muscles like a slug to your chest,
Get those gains, don’t stop now go do one more set.

N.W.A. Tip Of The Week
That which gets measured improves.
This is a universal truth of the human condition.
It doesn’t matter what domain you’re talking about…
We all know people who spend more money than they should.
They rack up credit card debt.
They have car loans, student loans, and take vacations when they shouldn’t.
They don’t think about tomorrow – they live to spend – and splurge – today.
The very first thing someone who’s in that situation should do is start tracking their finances.
Get on a proper budget.
List all of their recurring debt, and start to tackle the problem one by one.
Once you start tracking your finances closely, you’ll be much better at sorting out “needs” from “wants” and you’ll start to climb out of the hole you’re in.
I don’t think many people could disagree with that.
You’re probably reading this saying to yourself, “Well, no sh*t, Jason, this is obvious stuff”.
But for some reason, fitness is a major domain where most people just can’t be bothered to track their data closely…
Every day I walk into a big, commercial gym (Lifetime) and every day, I see people just “winging it”.
They do whatever feels good in the moment.
Whatever they “want” to do.
They’re not tracking sets.
Or reps.
Or weights.
Or timing their rest periods.
They’re just “working out”.
Which is better than nothing.
But it is FAR from optimal.
I often get asked “what do you do for your workouts and diet” when I’m at the gym.
That happens when you’re 44 years old, 6’8″, 230 pounds and have a 6 pack I suppose…
When I tell them I track my workouts closely….
I always strive to beat my previous best.
And I track my calories closely…
I do my best to say in the right range each day.
And I track my protein closely…
I (almost) never get less than 200 grams of protein per day.
And I track my body measurements closely…
I make sure my waist, my arms, my chest… and everything else is where I want it to be…
They always lose interest.
You can see their eyes glaze over.
That sounds like too much work!
Amirite?
But if I want my health and physique to improve I need to track some metrics.
It’s funny… sometimes prospective clients will hop on a call with me and they’ll tell me all the stuff they’re doing.
They’re lifting.
They’re eating “healthy”.
But they’re not making progress.
And I ask them what they’re tracking, and the answer is “nothing”!
When we start on a program together, they’re tracking their calories.
And their protein.
And their workouts.
And their body measurements.
And their scale weight…
And wouldn’t you know it… their results explode.
That which gets measured improves.
The best thing I ever did to lose fat was track my macros.
The best thing I ever did to gain muscle was track my measurements.
The best thing I ever did for my debt was track my expenses.
The best thing I ever did for my net worth was track my finances.
If you’re serious about improving, you’ll start tracking properly.
Because if you don’t, you’re just guessing, nothing more.
I currently have a few spots open on my personal, 1:1 roster for coaching.

While it’s true you can build muscle at home, unless you’re really dedicated to it, you should join a gym instead.
Lots of guys out there saying “I’ll just do push ups every day” and by Week 2, they ain’t doing shit.
There’s something about the gym that can’t be replaced…
