Happy Friday, Coach J here from Anyman Fitness – and welcome to the latest edition of The N.W.A. Newsletter.

Each week with the N.W.A. Newsletter, I give you the best Nutrition, Weightlifting, and/or Attitude advice for you to start to use in your life today.

Tens of thousands of people have used this exact newsletter to gain muscle, lose fat, and become a better version of themselves…

Without any further ado, let’s get started..

N.W.A. Tip Of The Week

I was recently asked,

What is the #1 nutritional habit people need to have in place in order to get to a healthy weight and maintain it for life?

Freaking GREAT question.

And I have an answer for you…

This one is coming straight from a former fat guy.

A guy who weighed 300 pounds and failed miserably for 10 straight years to get that number down to something more reasonable.

I tried running it off of me.

I tried eating zero carbs.

I tried long fasts (aka skipping meals).

I tried eating all salads and very low carb.

These things would all work short term, but blow up in my face long term.

And the weight would pile back on…

Yo yo after yo yo after yo yo…

Maybe you’ve been there before…

I would hear things like “you should eat more protein” and “eat 1 gram of protein per pound of your bodyweight” and try to adhere to that advice.

But I had this huge mental block about actually tracking it.

It seemed obsessive.

Like a massive pain in the ass.

It’s funny how we have perceptions in our head of what certain things are like.

I mean… seriously… how hard is it to accurately track your protein?

Any sort of whey or dairy comes in a container, just read it and measure it.

You can Google or use AI to find the protein content in your meat – then weigh it and you’re good.

That’s all it takes.

It’s crazy I avoided 5 minutes of my time for so long just because I was being lazy.

It is a universal truth that if you don’t know how much protein you are eating, you aren’t eating enough.

And I mean exact grams, I don’t mean “well, I eat 2 eggs for breakfast and turkey for lunch, and…”

No, no, no, those are food types.

Not actual protein grams.

Quick quiz – how many actual grams of protein are you eating per day?

If the answer is “gee, I don’t know, that’s a red flag”.

Which brings me back to the original question.

The #1 nutritional habit you should have to lose the body fat and keep it off for life is to eat at least 1 gram of protein per pound of your Dream Body Weight.

What is your “Dream Body Weight”?

The bodyweight you would have if you were ripped.

15% body fat for men, and 25% body fat for women.

If you don’t know exactly what that number would be, take the lightest weight you have ever been in your adult life (over the age of 18).

That should work just fine.

Once I actually started doing this, everything changed for me nutritionally.

My hunger levels vanished.

My energy levels soared.

I was able to finally stick to an actual calorie deficit.

There is a hypothesis as to why this works so well – it’s called The Protein Leverage Hypothesis.

It’s an idea that our bodies are primed to eat until we are sated with protein; if we don’t get enough protein, our hunger never diminishes,

Essentially, we are driven go overeat if protein needs aren’t met.

This seems plausible.

I know if I don’t get protein into my system, I am absolutely ravenous all day long.

If I eat a protein rich meal, I’m good for hours.

Even if it’s low calorie.

So, if you’re struggling with your weight (or you’re on a GLP for weight loss), a simple tip:

Start tracking your protein, and eat at least 1 gram per pound of your Dream Body Weight.

You’ll be shocked at how easy this makes dieting.

You’ll be more full than you’ve ever been in your life.

If you’ve been struggling to reach your fitness goals for years, why haven’t you joined my team yet?

It would be great if you could lose fat consistently without tracking.

And some people can.

But if you’ve been trying to lose “the last 30 pounds” for the last 10 years, that should tell you something.

Why make something so simple take so long?

Track your shit.
