Time for the newest edition of “Gainz Of The Week” – the premier spot for the best information to improve your fitness levels – and your life.
This week was a productive week for me. I accomplished a few personal items:
1. I wrote two articles which will be released in the future.
2. I recorded a podcast with Robbie Farlow of Sidequest Podcast and Sidequest Fitness.
3. I wrote my first chapter of my new book, which will come out………whenever it’s done! Earliest, next summer. Latest, 2053.
4. I got yelled at for deadlifting in my shitty, commercial gym – AGAIN.
You know that whole phrase, “Don’t ask permission, ask for forgiveness”?
Here’s how this works:
-The workers at my gym pissed when I deadlift because I deadlift heavy and it makes noise.
-Every time I deadlift they come over and say, “Hey, man, keep it down!”.
-I respond with, “I’m so sorry, I’ll try to be quiet.”
-I continue without changing a thing. But the fact that I acknowledged their frustration gets them off my back.
This continues every week. I’ve been training there since 2006, and they haven’t kicked me out yet.
It’s okay to be selfish sometimes. If they ever actually say, “Stop deadlifting or leave”, I’ll have to become a smooth talker and have a meeting with a manager. But until then………….
Anywho, moving on…………………..
Reading Gainz By Jason
This week’s article was about stress and how you can begin to actively change your mindset to reduce stress in your life.
We always need to keep in mind a few items:
1. It’s never as bad as “worst case scenario”.
2. If it truly is “worst case scenario”, will we survive it?
3. If it is to be, there’s nothing we can do about it. Accept it and move on.
It’s never the stressor itself which bothers us – it’s our own, natural perception of the stressor.

Client Gainz Of The Week
This week we highlight client Kate.
Kate recently finished up her initial 12 weeks with us, and her results were impressive:
Kate’s progress shows you two things: The true power of lifting weights AND how faulty the scale is.
Kate only lost one kilogram of scale weight during our 3 months (a shade over 2 pounds). However, she lost 4.5 inches off of her belly button measurement and over 18 INCHES from her body in total from the points we measured (button, each bicep, each quad, chest, and hips).
Kate voiced her frustration at the lack of scale movement during our time together. It was then she realized the true value of hiring a coach. A coach is someone who looks at the data rationally and makes calm, educated decisions. After Kate was assured that she was, in fact, losing fat rapidly, and the scale was being a “liar”, Kate focused on the process and was rewarded.
You tell me? Does that picture look like 2 pounds of fat loss? Or 15?
If you keep in mind that each inch off the waist correlates with about 4 pounds of fat loss for females, it’s much more likely 15 than 2.
Kate is going to continue with us and we can’t wait to see her in another 12 weeks.
Nice job!
Thought Gainz Of The Week
This week’s Thought Gainz come from a current client, Sarah, who was struggling with making enjoyable meals for her diet.
Her question:
Jason, I’m really struggling with creating solid meals. What advice can you give me? I need to eat something that I enjoy, but at the same time, I’m not a chef. I have a hard time coming up with meals, which is why I generally turn to convenience food sources like fast food, take out, and delivered pizza.
What do you do in order to keep your meals enjoyable and not monotonous?
A fantastic question, and here’s my reply:
