N.W.A. Tip Of The Week
This is a silly question, but do you like ice cream?
Of course you do, I don’t think I’ve ever met someone who doesn’t.
If you’re watching your waistline, it can be tough to squeeze ice cream into your calorie goals and macros, though.
Most ice cream is a wicked combination of fat and sugar, with almost no protein to speak of.
There are a few okay “healthy ice cream” options like Halo Top and Arctic Zero.
But even those aren’t high protein.
They’re just low calorie.
And they also taste like shit…
For the last few years, I’ve been watching colleagues and clients make incredible homemade, high protein ice cream with their Ninja Creami’s.
The Ninja Creami is a kitchen appliance that came out a few years ago.
Essentially, you make an ice cream “mix” in a blender, you freeze it overnight, and then, the Creami will mix up the ice cream for you so it’s smooth and creamy (hence the name, of course).
I’m a bit late to the party, but we purchased one last week, and the results are in: This thing is an absolute game changer.
There are lots of different recipes you can find online, but the main ingredients for a delicious batch of ice cream are pretty similar:
- A ready-made protein shake, such as Fairlife or Premier (you can use milk here, but the protein shake will up the protein numbers, and taste better).
- About a cup of either Greek yogurt or cottage cheese
- A packet of Jello pudding powder (sugar free for the lowest calories)
- 2-3 spoonfuls of zero calorie sweetener (Stevia or Splenda)
- Optional: Extra scoops of whey or casein protein if you wish
There are seemingly endless combinations you could try.
You could go with a chocolate protein shake, cottage cheese, and a banana pudding powder for a chocolate/banana ice cream.
Or a vanilla shake, Greek yogurt, and strawberry pudding powder for a vanilla/strawberry mix.
PB2 is an excellent option for getting peanut butter flavor into your ice cream without many calories as well.
I’ve been experimenting myself – here’s a few flavor combos I’ve tried so far.
Simple chocolate ice cream (tastes similar to a Wendy’s Frosty):
3/4 cup zero fat greek yogurt
Fairlife chocolate shake
Sugar free chocolate pudding
3 spoons of Splenda or Stevia
This is a pretty darn delicious “treat” that’s barely even a treat – it clocks in at 385 calories and 55 grams of protein.
The volume is also something that is fantastic. One batch is high protein, low calorie, and way more than a pint – you will 100% be full if you eat the entire batch.
I really enjoyed this one here:
Birthday Cake Ice Cream
Ingredients:
Birthday cake Premier protein shake
Cheesecake pudding packet
3/4 cup Greek yogurt
3 tablespoons of Splenda/Stevia
And a birthday cake Quest bar mixed in
This was my dinner last Sunday (seriously, I had ice cream for dinner).
It clocked in at 530 calories and 74 grams of protein.
To put that into perspective, a healthy dinner of a strip steak and veggies would be over 1,000 calories.
That sort of a calorie savings is a huge benefit when you’re dieting for fat loss.
After I got my Creami, I asked my Twitter followers for recipes.
They responded beautifully, with a ton of options for you to try out.
Here’s the link to the post I made, so you can bookmark it and give the recipes a whirl.
I just realized how much this seems like an advertisement, lol.
I promise you, I’m not a Ninja employee, and this isn’t an affiliate thing.
I just wanted to relay the message to you; if you’re an ice cream lover like me, and you want to eat ice cream daily, guilt free, while dieting, grab a Creami.
I promise you, you won’t be disappointed!

It’s an absolute truth of fat loss that you WILL be hungry at times.
You can eat more fiber/veggies, drink carbonated beverages, tinker with meal timing, and what not.
But when push comes to shove, you’re PURPOSELY eating less than you need to lose body fat.
Embrace the hunger.
I hope you enjoyed this edition of the Anyman Fitness N.W.A. Newsletter.
I’ll be back next week.
Hope you have a wonderful weekend.
