As the first quarter of the school year comes to a close, I was faced with (arguably) the toughest time of the year as a teacher.
Parent-Teacher Conference Week.
This means late nights, lots of talking (a strained voice), and trying to squeeze in my own training and proper diet while doing it.
When faced with little time to meal prep, I found myself heading to grab take out on multiple occasions.
I usually don’t count explicitly in these situations. I find myself getting a low-calories, high-protein option whenever I can.
I make sure to:
- Get a sandwich.
- Pick lean meat and double it.
- Pile on the veggies.
- Skip the cheese/creamy dressings.
- Use low-cal condiments – mustard, salt/pepper, and hot sauce.
- Enjoy the hell out of it.
I follow some simple advice in times like this: “Don’t eat like an asshole.”
Instinctively, we know what has less calories and what will help us achieve our goals.
It’s up to us to execute the plan we have in our hands.
For Thanksgiving, though, all bets are off.

Client Gainz Of The Week
Today’s Client Gainz come from online client Anabelle.
Words can’t describe the amazing job she has done.
At the age of 49, Anabelle began lifting and fixing her habits.
She focused on long-term progress and learning skills which would benefit her from here on out.
She has realized that change takes time – and she would have to play the long game in order to transform.
She didn’t lose fat linearly. There were ups and downs. There were frustrations. There were peaks and valleys.
But she kept the course, through all of life’s curveballs.
She was rewarded with an astonishing 28 pound weight loss, with 7 inches of fat removed from her belly.
The picture is stunning:
We are honored to have a small part in this amazing transformation.
Wishing you continued success, Anabelle! Keep rockin’ it!
Thought Gainz Of The Week
Today’s Thought Gainz come from client Shae.
Shae was a bit frustrated with her progress.
She had a goal of just over 1 pound of fat loss per week, and she was losing more slowly than that, around 0.6-0.7 pounds of fat loss, on average.
While that is still a solid, sustainable clip, she was wondering about ways to speed up the process.
After having a bit of back and forth, we pin-pointed a problem: Shae was estimating most of her portion sizes.
This can be an issue.
Here are my thoughts on the matter.
