Santa be swole.
Santa be swole.

5 more days until Christmas break.

5 more days until Christmas break.

5 more days until Christmas break.

I can make it……………I can do it…………I WILL survive.

I think.

The week before Christmas break IS actually really fun as a teacher.

The kids are nutso, but you know what’s coming up. 16 days without work and time with your family.

Looking forward to it doesn’t even begin to do the break justice.

It’s easily my favorite time of the year.

Or is it the “most wonderful time of the year”?

Your call on that one.

This week’s article was about a topic near and dear to my heart.

There are certain……….”things” that we do in our societies.

There’s no real rhyme or reason as to why we do them – we simply do them because we’ve always done them, and EVERYONE has always done them.

Which is a silly reason to do anything, if you think about it.

It wasn’t until I stopped “blindly following the pack” and began doing things that are a bit outside the normal, accepted scope that I started making REAL progress.

Client Gainz Of The Week

Today’s Client Gainz come from online client Kenedy (name changed for anonymity).

In 6 short weeks, Kenedy lost almost 5 inches off of her waistline, approximately 20 pounds of fat (our estimate), and 12 pounds on the scale.

Her progress for a month and a half has been nothing short of jaw-dropping.

Here is a picture of what she has done so far:

Nice job, Kenedy! Keep up the amazing work!

Thought Gainz Of The Week

This week’s Thought Gainz come from an email from one of our community members.

After this week’s article about social norms, she sent us the following question:

Hey Jason,

This is along a thread of frustration I’ve been having lately.

My BF and I are both trying to eat better and drop some lbs.

I am going for the better foods, lean meats, and responsible portion sizes.

My BF on the other hand has decided that carbs are the enemy. Especially bread.

But he also refuses rice, sweet potato, carrots, corn, fruits and any other “starchy,” “sugary” or “carb-laden” foods.

It’s made it very difficult for me to prepare meals we can both eat without him either having way too few calories and topping up with fast food at the end of the day, or loading up with a lot of the same stuff all the time.

I prepare some of the stuff I like and have it with my meals, and try to just load his up with more meat and “low-carb” veggies, but he’s not getting enough and I’m at a loss.

Any ideas?  Or a way to talk to him so he understands that not all carbs are the enemy?

Jen

Great question, Jen.

It’s not easy when a loved one has food fears or is dieting in an extreme way.

What can you do to change someone’s views?
