It’s like that, and it’s like this,
I went to the gym and I started to lift.

N.W.A. Tip Of The Week
A few years ago, when GLP’s first came out, there was a big backlash against them.
Many people were against taking them; the side effects were seen as dangerous by the general public.
The long term effects had yet to be studied.
There were reports of muscle loss, organ failure, osteoporosis, and a myriad of other health issues related to the injections.
Interestingly, after a few years have passed, GLP’s are becoming mainstream.
They’ve already taken over Hollywood; we’ve all seen the pictures of various celebrities with rail thin frames from the medications.
GLP’s have made their way from Hollywood to Main Street, USA.
If I had to guess, you probably know someone who’s taking them right now.
In fact, it very well may be you who’s taking them.
I estimate about 30% of my current coaching clients are using a GLP medication to help their dietary adherence.
You must be careful if you’re taking these medications.
There are ways to do GLP’s wrong… and ways to do them right…
Today, we’ll go over a few things you need to focus intently on if you are going to be on a GLP medication.
You NEED to be strength training at least 3 times per week with your FULL body – and pushing yourself hard.
This is #1.
This comes BEFORE eating lots of protein.
You need to be reminding your muscles of why they’re there.
This means strength training.
And it doesn’t mean going into the gym and using the same 15 pound dumbbells every time you train.
It means tracking your workouts.
It means trying to get stronger every session.
It means training your upper AND your lower body.
It means being consistent.
It means doing your sets very close to failure, or perhaps all the way to failure.
This is NON-NEGOTIABLE.
If you want to maintain a healthy metabolism and not destroy yourself metabolically, this needs to be done.
No questions asked.
You NEED to be eating ample protein – at least 1 gram per pound of your goal weight (in pounds).
Simple as.
You’re training hard (hopefully).
You need to be sure you’re eating enough protein to support that training.
It’s not enough to just “eat protein”.
You need to track it closely to be sure you’re getting enough.
Whatever your goal weight is (in pounds), eat that many grams of protein per day.
Every single day.
Be sure it happens, and the 1-2 punch of strength training and ample protein will go a long way in ensuring you stay as healthy as possible.
You NEED to be sure you’re not undereating.
This one is HUGE when you’re on these medications.
They blunt your appetite big time.
You just don’t feel like eating any food at all.
You need to be sure your calorie deficit isn’t too big.
Listen carefully here…just because you’re on a GLP medication doesn’t mean you don’t have to track your nutrition.
Most people have to track their nutrition to be sure they don’t overeat.
But on these medications, you have to track your nutrition to be sure you don’t UNDEReat.
That’s just as important – the human body has a limit to how much body fat it can lose in a day.
If you’re too aggressive with your deficit, you’ll start to lose muscle as well – be careful.
You NEED to use these medications as an OPPORTUNITY to show adherence to a PROPER fitness protocol.
It’s not enough to just “be on a GLP and not eat”.
There’s a reason fitness coaches like myself have the requirements that we do.
Tracking your nutrition.
Strength training.
Eating ample protein.
Etc, etc, etc.
It’s because that is the healthiest path for you.
That is the path that retains muscle while torching body fat, and leaving you with tons of energy and feeling fantastic.
The GLP medications should be seen as a “helper” to adhere to a proper fitness protocol.
You should find it easier to stick to your diet with them.
Hunger should be much more manageable.
But they don’t take the place of proper nutrition, or strength training.
Those items are STILL on you to execute properly.
GLP’s are changing the fitness landscape quickly.
If you’re going to use them, that’s a personal choice.
Eventually, you’ll want to come off of them, though.
Be sure you’re building the proper habits you should always have so when it’s time to pull back from the medications, you’ve created a system that will work for you, without the aid of GLP’s.
I’ve been coaching men and women in 1:1, personalized protocols since 2013.
Here’s an example from Sam – he lost 50 pounds in my program and now has a 6 pack at the age of 49:

GLP’s are an incredible tool and very useful for a lot of people.
Getting similar results to GLP’s via discipline will have more meaning for you, and teach you more about yourself.
Both of these things are true.
