Happy Friday, Coach J here from Anyman Fitness – and welcome to the latest edition of The N.W.A. Newsletter.

Each week with the N.W.A. Newsletter, I give you the best Nutrition, Weightlifting, and/or Attitude advice for you to start to use in your life today.

Tens of thousands of people have used this exact newsletter to gain muscle, lose fat, and become a better version of themselves…

Without any further ado, let’s get started..

N.W.A. Tip Of The Week

In the last week, I’ve talked with 2 different men with similar past histories when it comes to fitness.

Both of them had lost 50 pounds – on multiple occasions – just to gain it back.

Naturally, they were frustrated by this.

They asked me what I thought they were doing wrong.

If you are in this same boat – if you’ve been successful with weight loss in the past, but it hasn’t “stuck” – this one is for you…

First, you need to be sure your diet isn’t something gimmicky.

This is where most people mess up.

You lost 50 pounds on Keto?

Great, your odds of long term success are slim to none.

Sorry, I don’t make the rules.

You want to have a calorie deficit.

High protein.

Moderate carbs/fats.

Simple.

No weird rules, no long fasts, no eliminating entire food groups, none of that bullshit.

A simple, straight forward set up that will get the job done.

This ensures your “diet” doesn’t feel like a diet – it just feels like you are eating foods you love in the right portion.

Okay?

Cool.

Now that we’ve knocked that one out, the next part is the real issue you haven’t been successful in maintaining your weight losses in the past.

You are STILL seeing your diet as a goal to achieve instead of a way of life.

Let me explain…

Do you know what the difference is between “fat loss” and “maintenance/lean bulking” is?

About 400-600 calories.

That’s it – a solid fat loss deficit is about that big – and to bring your calories up to maintenance, you add those calories back in.

I have had many clients lean all the way out, reach their goals, and then we start working on rebuilding their metabolism and switch to muscle gain.

I have to make sure they realize how little a difference 400-600 calories is!

They still have to track.

They still have to pay close attention.

They still should be eating the exact same foods in the exact same way, the only difference is their portions are now a bit bigger.

THAT is a tough concept for people to grasp.

You do not change how or what you eat when you go from “diet mode” to “maintenance mode”.

Healthy food is healthy food.

You should always be eating a diet rich in whole, unprocessed foods.

Whether you’re dieting, maintaining, or bulking.

That’s where you’ve messed up if you’ve lost 50 pounds over and over again.

You lose the 50 pounds and think “Oh, this is pretty good, awesome, I can ease up a bit” and boom, 6 months later, all 50 pounds is back and you have to start over again.

Healthy eating is a way of life.

It never ends.

There is no end date, unless you count “death” as an end date.

If you’ve found yourself on the gimmicky-diet yo-yo plan, or you’ve found yourself “easing off the gas pedal” after you hit a certain number, you need to fix that.

The only way for you to lose the weight and keep it off forever is if you forever eat a healthy, nutritious diet.

There is no way around it, it’s just how it is.

I’ve been coaching men and women in 1:1, personalized protocols since 2013.

Here’s an example from Tres – he lost 30 pounds in my program and now has a 6 pack at the age of 49:

I don’t mean to be rude here but if you’re lifting and all you need is 60 seconds between sets, and you feel rested, you’re lifting like a p*ssy.
