And this is for the bros who can’t lift with us,
And this is for my cousin who’s injured ‘cuz the answer’s in us.

N.W.A. Tip Of The Week
Here’s an interaction that takes place every week for me…
And it makes me scratch my head every time it happens…
I hop on a call with someone who’s interested in coaching.
I ask them questions about diets they’ve tried in the past.
Then, they’ll tell me “I want to do a Keto/Carnivore type diet – that’s the only diet that’s worked for me in the past.”
It’s always a tough conversation to have…
But I have to find a way to politely tell them that no, we will not be doing a Keto/Carnivore diet.
There’s a lot of reasons why I don’t use those types of diets with clients but the #1 reason is simple – very few people can stay consistent with them over time.
Said in a different way… If Keto/Carnivore worked well, then I wouldn’t be on a call with someone who needed to lose weight.
Namsayin?
These super low-carb diets are really enticing, though.
You WILL lose a TON of weight in the first few weeks.
That is super alluring, so it’s understandable to see why so many people want to try them.
But you’re not losing a ton of body fat.
Diets that restrict carbs down to nothing and bump up your protein will always cause a big “woosh” at the start of a diet.
Let’s say you average 300 grams of carbs per day (a reasonable number for someone not dieting).
Every gram of carbs you eat will also add 3-4 pounds of water weight to your body.
Then, all of a sudden, you stop on a dime, going from 300 grams of carbs to zero grams of carbs.
That means every day, you are no longer bringing in up to 1200 grams of water weight (300 grams of carbs x 3-4 grams of water weight per gram of carbs).
1200 grams = 1.2 kilograms = 2.6 pounds of water, per day
So, in the first week, you will be avoiding over 18 pounds of water that used to be inside of you! (2.6 x 7).
Of COURSE you will get a huge weight woosh!
But as anyone knows who’s tried these diets in the past… after the first few weeks, that super rapid weight loss starts to slow down.
Eventually it will stall.
Because no matter what diet you try, you need to be in a calorie deficit in order to lose body fat, that much is a fact.
Here’s something you should always realize:
The way you eat when dieting is the way you should always eat, the only difference is the portion sizes change.
Healthy choices are healthy choices.
It’s not like when you’re trying to lose fat you eat healthy, whole foods and when you’re maintaining, you should switch to fast food and ice cream.
Doesn’t work like that.
Pick a style of eating you can enjoy FOREVER.
And understand for 99.999% of humans, that means a balanced diet of all 3 macronutrients.
The obvious, boring path is always the path you should try first.

“Why can’t I stay consistent with my diet?!”
A few reasons:
- You’re being way too restrictive
- You have unreasonable expectations
- You quit as soon as you mess up
- You label foods as “good” and “bad” and get pissed at yourself for occasionally eating “bad” foods
I hope you enjoyed this edition of the Anyman Fitness N.W.A. Newsletter.
