The Back To The Future trilogy is a pure classic. In my opinion, it's the greatest classic ever assembled. Yes, I'm aware that means I believe it to be better than: Star Wars Lord Of The Rings Harry Potter Indiana Jones Big Momma's House Trilogy Hmmmmmm........................... What is it that makes BTTF such an amazing movie? Sure, the special effects are awesome (for the mid-80's), the storyline was dynamic and compelling, and the concept is inherently catchy. … [Read more...]
Kryptonite
I've always wanted to be Superman. Not necessarily in the "I want to look like a superhero" sense, but in the sense that I try to be all things to all people. Forever, I've had an issue with wanting to "fit in". Truth be told, I suffer from "imposter syndrome". I feel insecure and inadequate in almost everything I do. It's this obsession, this constant feeling of somebody being "on my heels" that has allowed me to be successful in my online business. But even the most "alpha" of the … [Read more...]
Podcast: The Dumbest Fitness Mistakes I’ve Made
We all make mistakes in the name of fitness. I am not immune to this. Not even close. In my quest for physical improvement, I've made some of the dumbest mistakes there are. Some resulted in losing tons of muscle. Some resulted in me losing my sex drive. Some resulted in my immune system becoming suppressed and being constantly sick. In this podcast, we discuss: How to think of your fitness in terms of a system. Lifestyle considerations you should think about before you … [Read more...]
Podcast: Life Lessons From Working The Worst Job Ever
When I was in college, I had the world's worst job: I worked retail at an Old Navy. Although this wasn't my first job ever, it was the first time I was forced into a working situation. I was 20 years old, my college scholarship had just disappeared, and I couldn't ask my Dad for any money. I had too much pride for that. I had to work to make ends meet. Although the time I spent working at Old Navy was mind-numbingly dull and a total waste of my skill set, I learned many life … [Read more...]
Discipline Trumps Willpower Every Time
Most of the things that I have become good at, I actually don't like doing all too much. I'm an adequate writer. Adequate enough to attract online clients from it, anyways, so that has to count for something. Our free online course has been used by thousands to shed fat effectively, so my words are having an impact. I'm an above average Father. I don't hit my daughters and I try not to yell at them. I give them their space and allow them to appropriately explore the world at their … [Read more...]
Are The Suburbs Making You Soft?
In 2006, my new wife and I purchased our first home in Canton, Michigan - a small, quiet town between Ann Arbor and Detroit. It's been the only home we've ever lived in. We are both traditional, coming from two-parent homes without divorce. I was raised Catholic, my wife was raised Baptist. We both graduated high school with honors (her the valedictorian, actually), attended a 4-year university with the rest of the sheeple, wed, and got "real jobs". Myself as a teacher and her as … [Read more...]
How To “Give Zero F–ks”
We hear all the time that we should "give zero f--ks" about what others think. That advice is so trite and commonplace, it makes me cringe when I see it dispersed. Hell, I even do the same thing from time to time with our online clients. Sometimes, people come to us and they already lift and count their macros. They've taken our free fat-loss course, and they are getting the results they're after. These people make ideal clients. Their behaviors and habits are firmly in place and … [Read more...]
The Summer That May Not Have Been
When I was 20 years old, I got kicked off the baseball team at my University. I had a scholarship at the time, but athletic scholarships were renewable year-to-year based on performance. If you weren't performing, you weren't playing. I wasn't performing. Coach gave me the axe. I will always remember walking out of his office after he had told me I was off the team. I was in a strange sort of daze. I walked outside, the sun was shining, and I looked around for my car. It took me a … [Read more...]
“Most People”
The evidence based fitness industry isn't helping "most people". We're helping lots of people, but not "most people". I'm not helping "most people". I actually AM "most people", so that does give me a bit of an advantage. I have a beat on how "most people" think. I'm always pondering how I'm going to expand my audience and reach more people - maybe I can reach some of those "most people" that I'm talking about. I would never sell something that was bullshit to turn a quick buck. My name … [Read more...]
Finding Your Why
Why do we do the things that we do? As humans, what is our purpose for making the decisions that we make? Are our decisions a function of our current environment? Are our decisions a reflection of our lives' direction? Do we determine our decisions, or are our decisions pre-determined? Why is there such a massive discrepancy between people who seem to come from the same walk of life? Some walk around entitled, envious, and jealous of the success of others. They drink from the … [Read more...]
